Moho Loading a 3D Obj

Post by DK »

Hi.
Recently I am having trouble loading a 3D object into Moho I built in Lightwave 3D. I have saved it out as an obj. file but for some reason it refuses to load the complete object only rear wheels and a few other bits of the model? Any help on this would be amazing thank you!
(The object is a full Trike)

Hmm...I can't download the file either.

I'm guessing there's something Moho doesn't like about the geometry, like coplanar polys or single-point polygons. (Yes, that's a thing in LightWave.) LightWave is pretty forgiving about a lot of things that freak out other animation programs.

Fortunately, fixing things like that is usually easy. If I can get the file, I can check it out in Moho and LightWave.

You can't download the file because there is a typo in the address (missing r). Should be: https://www.creativetvandmedia.com/Forum/Trikey.zip
Moho 14.3 » Win 11 Pro 64GB » NVIDIA GTX 1080ti 11GB
Moho 14.3 » Mac mini 2012 8GB » macOS 10.15 Catalina

First of all sorry about the typo! My bad! I ended up rebuilding the entire mesh using Moho's 3D capabilities. It took hours but I am pretty happy with the results below:

Thanks for all the help!

Thanks Greenlaw.
I Just wish Moho had the ability to allow you to create more complex 3D shapes. I would use it a lot more!!

Yeah, I understand. For animation and rendering, I find the options for 3D objects are too limited, and it makes more sense to send the Moho 2D renders to the 3D program, or merge the 2D and 3D elements in a compositing program.

However, there are other ways to use this feature in Moho. For example, I sometimes import a 3D object as a tracing reference for a vector drawing or FBF animation.

Yes...I've done that too. In the trike model below I needed to make the base frame out of round pipe but the only option I had was to use the extrude function which made the base framework into a flat extruded shape. Just lots of little things that could be improved and make Moho even better.
