Do you prefer MOHO for those Complex infographics?

Post by animationfan »

Well working with Moho it seems so much can be achieved but some simple things are bugging me! like simple object alignment, setting the origin to the center of the layer, drawing dotted lines and animating. I would love to do so much here MOHO but simple things are taking time. SO my question is, do you prefer making some pro motion graphics, infographics, typography IN MOHO? besides moho's capability to simplify character animation is truly awesome. I am use to After Effects for motion graphics.

I use whichever tool makes my life easier, and, IMO, there is no reason to stick with one tool for a task.

For example, when I was the Lead Digital Animator on Fast & Furious Spy Racers, I sometimes used Moho to create info and screen graphics. These elements were often enhanced using After Effects, and I ultimately composited this 2D footage with the regular CGI footage using Nuke. It wasn't unusual for me to also animate elements using Maya and LightWave for 3D elements that I combined with my Moho animations. Seriously, our deadlines were so tight, I used whatever worked! :D

I also collaborated regularly with a fantastic screen graphics artist named Lasha Brodzeli, who created these insanely detailed 'techie' screens. (I learned so much from his work!) He didn't use Moho, but I sometimes merged Moho elements with his After Effects works.

Moho was also used to create many cartoon, game, and backstory segments seen throughout the series, but I had to create soooo many screen animations for the show, I took every opportunity to plug in Moho wherever it made sense.

So, to answer the original question: Do I prefer Moho for complex infographics? No, not when I have a choice. After Effects is generally better for infographics. But I prefer Moho over After Effects for the type of animation I can't do easily or as well when using After Effects alone.

Moho is fantastic for character animation but can feel limiting for complex motion graphics compared to After Effects. I got your point that Its always best to choose the right tool to get the job done efficiently! thanks for the insight and prompt response. looking forward to you.
