Vue and Plant Factory now absolutely free

Post by geekatplay »

Bentley has announced that Vue and Plant Factory will no longer be developed, and both are now completely free to use, even for commercial projects.

Vue is a powerful 3D environmental application, widely used in film and game productions. Plant Factory, which competes with Speed Tree, lets you create not just plants, but so much more.

You can find more details and free download links here: https://www.e-onsoftware.com.
If you're working with Moho, you can even create plants in Plant Factory and import them, saving tons of time.

If you’re not familiar with Vue or Plant Factory, or just want to learn more, I have several videos on my channel that cover these applications in depth.https://www.youtube.com/@geekatplay

Thanks for the tip, geekatplay!

I am sad to hear that Vue's development has ceased. In my Rhythm & Hues days (2001-2013), I used Vue to create terrain, vegetation, and sky animations for game trailers and cinematics (Fable 2, Halo: Midnight, Star Wars Kinect, and others.) I have always enjoyed using Vue, but unfortunately, the maintenance fees became too costly for my personal use. (For much of what I used Vue for back then, I now use Blender.)

That said, it's pretty cool that Vue is now freely available. I will check it out...at least for old-time's sake! I'll also visit your channel!

Somewhere on a lost hard drive I have a commercial license for Vue and five render cows. What always amazes me about Vue is that it could take a tremendous amount of Polly's and not crash. Slow down to a snail's pace but it would eventually render out your scene,
