MOHO CRASHING OPON EPENING 10 YEAR OLD FILE.

Post by hammerjammer »

Moho is crashing when I try to open a file I made about 10 years ago. I dont remember which version it was originally made in. I am currently using Moho 14.3.

I have tried to open it by dragging into MOHO with no success as well. Doing so this way does nothing. Moho acts as if i did nothing.

Its happening when I try opening it from the file menu. I choose the file and MOHO crashes.

The file has the .anme extension.

Any thoughts on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe try File>Import>Moho Object.

Maybe the file is corrupted, because I can open files I created for my tutorials as far as 13 years ago without problems!

Here is a link to one of my files (July 2011), so you can try it, it also has an .anme extension...

Got busy doing life things and forgot about posting this question... Anyway, I just tried this. Same result. Moho crashes.

Something I also just tried, just worked. which only adds to my frustration/confusion.
I still had MOHO 13.5 installed on my PC so I tried opening it with that... IT WORKED. Which I guess is good. But I dont understand why its crashing in MOHO 14.3. But, this tells me that the file is not corrupted. I'm a little bummed about about Not being able to open it in MOHO 14.3, but its better than not opening at all i guess.

Thanks for your input and sorry for slow response. Life has a way of kicking ya in the soft spot sometimes.. LOL

sorry about the slow response got busy with life stuff.

I'm wasn't sure about the file being corrupted but I was able to open it in mojo 13.5 which I still had installed on my PC. So it seems the file is not corrupted.
little bummed I wasn't able to open it in moho 14.3 but I guess it's better than nothing.

Thanks so much for your help.

I figured out how to get it to open in moho 14.3.
Kinda had to take the long way around but here's what I did.
Because I was able to open it in 13.5 I opened it in 13.5 then exported it as an moho 11 file, then tried to open it with moho 14.3 and it worked I then saved it with a new file name in moho14.3 and it works I now can open it from mojo 14.3...

I think I just went cross eyed...LOL

thanks to everyone that provided input...

Wow, that is weird.

I've had to do something similar with a couple of Moho 13.0 files (Mameneko from the tutorial videos, for example,) but Moho 13.0 (pre-13.5) was a weird creature. I would've guessed anything that opens in 13.5 would be fine in 14 since the code's pedigree is directly related.

Keeping Moho 12.5 and 13.5 around for situations like this is a good idea. (I used to keep every version of Moho installed, going back to version 9.5, but that was overkill.) :D

I have no clue as to what would cause that. But I sooooo glad that I was able to find the work around.

If you can open it in 13, I'd saved a copy from 13 (which should open in 14).
Then you could compare the source code of each file to see what 14 might be choking on.

Ok, So I gave this a try... IT DOES WORK. Its opens in 14.

Boy did I go the long route to get to the same result. I don't know why I didn't try that in the first place. Actually I THOUGHT I did, but I figured I would give it a try so it did look like I ignored you... LOL So now I look just foolish. Oh well thats ok I've got broad shoulders.

Thanks for the help. This OLD file was really important to me. Though Not one of my best creations. Actually I really kind of suck at this. But I have fun messing around with it.
