Add new actions and audio to timeline without keyframes being removed

Post by Shenteria »

I have been trying with Moho to learn Moho for the past week through tutorials and online courses. I am starting to get frustrated because I am having an issue over and over. So I did a walk cycle with a character, this was a character I purchased who already had the action of walking pre installed. So I made sure the keyframes were correct and saved the file. So I am assuming when I open the file again, those keyframes would be in place. I WAS WRONG! None of the keyframes are staying!

I needed to save the keyframes because it seems every little thing I do to continue working on the animation deletes all the keyframes. For example, I tried to have the character do a new action after walking in and it deleted all the keyframes. Then I uploaded an audio file to sync the lips and yet again all the keyframes were removed. Is there something I am missing? Why would Moho have this as a feature? Why would anyone want all their keyframes removed by importing audio and by needing the character to do a new action?

Unless you can provide a file and specific steps to repeat the problem, I have to assume user error.
I've never seen anything like what you describe in Moho.

I import audio to Moho several times a week to animate lip sync and have never seen that happen.

This might sound basic, but could it be that you don't have the Bones layer selected? When an audio file is imported, Moho selects that layer, and the Bones keyframes are no longer visible. Selecting the Bones layer should show its keyframes.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that maybe the Timeline Channels need to be reset. I made a tutorial about this a few weeks ago.

If it's not either of these, I'm not sure what else it could be. If you could screen record what you're doing, that might helps us understand what's going on. Or write a detailed step by step description as Wes suggested.

Hope this is helpful.

Good catch, Denis.
Creating a new action also opens a new action timeline, for the new action.

I would seriously suggest working through the tutorials to learn the basics.

Thank you both for your answers. I will check it out to or send a screen recording if I cannot figure it out. Even when I play the animation, the keyframes are removed so I don't think it is because the layer is changed unfortunately. But will try and see what happens.

Also even when I save a video with a walk cycle, when I reopen that Moho file, the walk cycle is removed. So currently I do not know how to save an edited animation. It resets back to nothing.

Wow, that's really strange. Will look out for your screen recording. :)
