cutter tool
a really needed tool that absence from moho drawing tools is cutter that can cut vectors into separate shapes . please add this tool
Re: cutter tool
In the meantime there's the great Eraser+ tool by SimplSam that does this

Re: cutter tool
I use Weld Crossings to cut paths, then Delete Edge to remove the ‘cutter’ remnants.
If you want to do this like a knife tool, just use Freehand with Weld Crossings, and Delete Edge to clean up. Like this...

That said, I think a proper Knife tool could be simpler by requiring fewer steps...but the above method is an easy workaround for the present.
What I'd really like to see are proper Boolean Operations for curves. Again, I can do what I need using Weld Crossings but the process could be simpler.
Tip: I did this above with Auto Fill and Auto Stroke active, but it can be easier to leave these options off and create the shapes after the curves are ready. This way, you can avoid having to delete and create the shapes again.

Re: cutter tool
I want to say someone may have created a tool for this, and maybe I forgot about it. Not sure but I'll look around.

Re: cutter tool
Ha! I think what I was trying to remember is SimplSam's tool. It's not exactly the same, but it looks very powerful and definitely simplifies many things I currently do using the native Weld Crossings and Delete Edge tools. Thanks for the reminder, Joel!
Guess I know what I'll be playing with today.

Re: cutter tool
You can use the regular Eraser as a shape slicing tool -- with .001 or even 0 radius width.

Re: cutter tool
Update: I just tried the Eraser+ method. It's not as precise as the Weld Crossings technique, but I think it's close enough in many situations. And it takes fewer steps!
I think I'll use the Eraser+ method for general Vector drawing, and the Weld Crossings method when I need perfectly matching slices for animation (like for objects shattering or breaking apart.)

Re: cutter tool
Wait...your image just popped up. I wonder why my slices don't match perfectly on both sides like in your image.
I'll take another look in a few minutes.

Re: cutter tool
Here's an example...

The lower slice is using Eraser+ with a setting of 0. The upper slice is using the regular Eraser. Both resulted in a gap that doesn't quite match.
Still looking into this.
Update: Ah! I see the points on each side don't exactly match your example...but they are definitely more closely matched than when I do it. Still wondering why my slicing is so loose. Maybe I shouldn't go completely down to 0. BRB

Re: cutter tool
Update: I raised it to 0.0010, and yes, the slice looks better.
Dropping it down to 0 apparently makes it slightly less stable. Additionally, it makes it harder to see the path of the slice while drawing.
