I recently working with particle layer and noticed 2 likely bugs:
1- when you set preview particle number it works just in frame zero but other frames it going to add up particles in viewport and make it useless.(it works well in moho 12 but buggy in newer versions)
2- if you animate the particle layer position for example moving it from right to left if "Free Floating" is on the particles will normally get behind the particle layer just like a locomotive moving and smoke gets behind BUT if orient particles is on they rotate in the direction of movement of particle layer . normally we expect particles orients back not to front. see video below. this behavior make no sense

Particles in Moho are fairly limited compared to systems like Red Giant Particular, and you may need to get creative with the settings to make it do exactly what you want. (Actually, that's been true for me with pretty much EVERY particle and dynamics system I've used.)
If this is not exactly what you're trying to achieve, I may need another example.

I'll make tutorials about how I used Moho Particles. Moho's particle system may be simple compared to what I've used in compositing and 3D programs, but it's still capable of a lot! I also have some ideas for combining Particles with some of Moho 14's new features.
