Yeah, it's possible. You need to recreate the Patch layer technique using regular masking settings. Synthsin75 helped me figure out the technique in a forum topic years ago.

I dubbed the technique 'Patchoid', and I might have the topic bookmarked. BRB.

Here it ...

viewtopic.php?t=32275&hilit=patchoids

An interesting side-effect I discovered was that I can use any shape for the 'Patchoid', not just a circle.

I think there was an error in the example I posted back then. I fixed it a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure if I updated the file at that link.

I'll make a how-to tutorial to illustrate the technique and upload a new demo project you can play with. Until then, the info at the topic should point you in the right direction.

Glad you remember that. I sure didn't.
After some amount of time, it's like someone else did it. I'm getting old.

I just read through the topic, and it looks like I updated the demo file in 2022. Hope you find it helpful! :D

I'll still make the tutorial video. It should make a good 'advanced' topic.

You won't believe how many times I've searched for solutions, only to find I answered my own question years ago in a forum post. :D
