I take it there is no way to switch off a layer binding from a bone mid-animation, right?
Basically I've got an image whose layer is linked to a bone. In a certain point of the animation I want to release the image from that bone so I can move it independently of the bone.
Haven't found anything even closely related to a release bone release layer that can be switched on or off, it's a global setting.
Either the layer is bound to a bone forever or it's not, you can't animate the bind.
So am I right is saying that the only option I have is to duplicate the image, hide the original one and then animate that one?
Cheers.

Re: Animate layer release from bones
A solution would be to add a new child bone to the main moving bone and bind the layer to it. Then you can unbind the child bone mid-animation and continue independently animating either the child bone or the layer itself.

The duplication way is the one I use, mostly for props taken from/put down on something. Same for objects which get exchanged between characters.
