Just want to make sure I haven't missed something obvious.
From my testing, there isn't a way to "link" a bone layer reference and ONLY UPDATE NON ANIMATED ATTRIBUTES?
For example, a rigged character is used in many files, but each with a different animation.
If you updated the original, added or moved bones, or moved vectors on an existing layer, you can't update a file with that layer linked without losing all the animation, correct?
I've tested a little bit, and it seems this won't work. When I update the link reference, it wipes my bone keys even without changes to the original.
I have 25 files all with the same character. Was hoping to link the "base" elements of the character and update changes without losing bone and lip sync animation.
I still have my bone animation export/import script, but it needs updating for the new version of Moho. Wanted to check the layer link feature before wasting time on that.
p.s. I am aware of sharing styles across many files, so that's not the issue.

Re: Linked moho object/layers question
Hi there,
I"m new here. I actually have a question regarding your question, if you don't mind. Are you saying that you are using the same rigged character for other characters and perhaps changing the hair color or maybe the eye shapes, etc? Thanks.

Re: Linked moho object/layers question
No, linking doesn't work that way.
You can, however, build a character and animate it, then duplicate that character, and change its attributes.

Re: Linked moho object/layers question
You can't update non-keyframeable attributes in a Reference (for example, Bone Strength). Keyframeable attributes and items can be added/edited in the original and updated in the Reference, but within reason.
If the project has animation, the result from the update can be unpredictable. Before updating the Reference, be sure to do this in a copy of the file, just in case it goes haywire. If updating causes a problem, regress the project, choose Break Layer Reference, and update/animate it as a regular rig.
This is just something to be aware of before importing too many rigs as References into a project.
Hope this helps.
