KeyFraming Specific Axis Without Effecting Other Timelines

Post by hkmarsh1 »

Hey, guys!

Hope the question isn't too confusing. I keep running into the issue of trying to animate a specific axis without effecting the others. For instance, if I just want to add a keyframe to the X axis without effecting the Y axis. This can be extremely frustrating especially if I had just cleaned up the animation for one of the axis and I want the other one to move more independently. Muting each axis doesn't seem to work because every new keyframe I insert it seems to create a new keyframe in the other axis.

I would also love to figure out how to jump to the keyframes on the specific bone selected as opposed to every keyframe that is within existence of my Moho file lol.

Thanks again!

That's what the red channel group is for: it displays keyframes for ONLY the selected items, for example, a single bone. (The white channel group is for ALL keyframes in the layer.)

Tip: I suggest setting Colored Bones to OFF in the Timeline Channels window. When this is set to On or Auto, it clutters the Timeline with a ton of channels you don't need to animate with. Everything else set to Auto should be fine.

If you're new to Moho, I describe this and other optimization tips in this video:

Also, consider using the Toggle Frame Zero button. This lets you jump between an animation frame and frame 0. Very handy when building and testing your rig. Timeline Visibility in the Layers Window is also very helpful.

Hope this info helps.

I actually mean this

Even though I mute the Y axis, it is still being affected by any changes made to the X axis.
