Flash: Water, Waves

Post by bupaje »

Hi. Do any of you Flash gurs have any tips for making nice water/waves in Flash? I need a tileable top view of small waves for a short I am trying to put together. The opening scene is a flyover of shallow sea heading to an island. Since the waves will be seen on the flyover and in the front of several shots (action takes place on the beach) I want something decent.

I spent several hours this weekend trying to use shape tweens and trying to figure out how to animate gradients and so on but the results weren't good enough. I can cycle a simple wave mving across the movie clip but results so far haven't been nice enough so figured I'd ask.

The flyover is probably only 10-12 seconds but as mentioned the waves will be visible in parts of other shots so I want to achieve something reasonably nice -or at least not distractingly ugly and mechanical.

Any help appreciated. :)

Well maybe this will help...
In the Kigotix forum(www.kigotix.com/forum) someone made the same question and the moderator answered with this simple effect:
