Takeo Igarashi's Software
This computer scientist designs very useful and interesting software for animators and graphic artists. He deserves, I think, particular attention. You can try some of his and his teams' software for free:

Particularly "Volume Modeling Project" (and its sister project Teddy) works well with Moho's 3d import.

I have Teddy ( http://www-ui.is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~takeo/teddy/teddy.htm old version)
and programmers software Alice. Teddy was fun but at the time it couldn't export obj. I'll try this Volumetric T version.

All versions of Teddy (Teddy [the original software], Teddy 2 [bundled with Alice], Smooth Teddy [including a simple 3d painting software] and the Volumetric Teddy) work reasonably well in my Windows 2000 environment.
v.1, v.2 and Volumetric Teddy can export obj which is extremely useful for Moho 3d function.
The advantage of these software is that 2d-based people can easily construct 3d models. As for ZBrush, which is I think also a very good software, modeling techniques mainly stay in the realm of 3d.
These are also some other programs following the stepr of teddy: Openteddy and TeddyPlus, with some extra features and different interface.

why is not the future?
i think it's made almost the same than moho, but in a more intelligent way.
yes, i think it can't be the future, not alone, but as the principal tool of an animation software as moho or whichever.
i would love to see a serious software with the tools of takeo igarashi, lostmarble and the guy of tweenmaker.
that's the future.
