As per usual looks like I missed the boat in getting Moho.

What has been added that makes it worth double its current cost?

Really dissapointed now. Not in Moho or the company or anything though. I will contact Lost marble direct to explain why.

Anyway I hope you make tons of cash from this new partnership.

Cheers

Hello Mike,

Which, I guess, is one reason why some software companies put a 15 or 30-day limit on their demo software, so people have to decide whether to buy rather than keep playing with the demo indefinitely. I suppose each style of demo has its positive and negative sides.

From the new web-site:
"Anime Studio is filled with hundreds of pre-rigged items, professionally-drawn characters and props. Take advantage of all of this built-in content!"

So, a large part of it is content - or, if you prefer, people-time. If you draw all your own content this might not matter one way or another, but for some people it will make Moho more attractive, partularly while they are learning. Similar comments could be made about features such as 3D imports or scripting - it may or may not be important to your way of working.

Also, increased product support - rather than Mike trying to do everything and burning himself out (something we certainly don't want). This means that development time is not completely sacrificed to marketing, sales, and support for an increasing user base.

In this latter respect I guess you're paying for Moho/Anime Studio to be a viable continuing product rather than a great product no longer available or developed (and if you haven't seen that happen before, you haven't been in the computer area long enough).

Regards, Myles.

It seems Anime Studio is available only for Windows and Mac. Where is the Linux version? I think I'm not the only one who is using Moho under Linux. I hate Windows and I have no Mac hardware. I downloaded the video tutorial and it seems the new program has the usual Moho interface.

Hi Fazek,

It's coming - Mike Clifton said earlier the Linux version would be a little later than the Windows and Mac versions.
When Anime Studio is first released, you'll notice that there are only Mac and Windows versions. Rest assured, Linux users, that we'll still have a Linux version of the program, but it will be released sometime after the Mac and Windows versions.

That also fits in with the other email announcement from Mike:
We will also release a "professional" version, which will be similar to the software that's currently available from my site
So, apart from the new name and content, it's action as usual for most formerly-known-as-Moho users.

Regards, Myles.

EDIT: Curiously enough, although I'm generally a Windows user, this post was sent from Konqueror running on Slax Linux.

The forums may be moved over to e frontier after a while, but we'll be sure to move them with all the old posts and user accounts intact. There's a lot of knowledge here that we don't want to lose.
