As I feared, I can't upgrade my version of moho...
The serial key I was given by the person that supposidly purchased moho for me obviously got some sort of a "pirated" CD-Key or something that doesn't allow me to update it.
I'm quite pissed off right now since I did in-fact exchange a copy of moho for services I provided this individual that I no longer see online anymore.
Let this be a lesson to you all not to trust people online.
I doubt I'm going to be able to get my copy Anime Studio now so the end result is me being screwed on the deal this guy and I made in the long run...
The "invalid serial number" is not a new SNAFU-unfortunately. Very many upgraders for E-frontier products have had this problem, especially with transactions orginating outside the US.
Contacting E-frontier should at least verify if the number is good or if it's just more of the same recurring problem with the transaction system. -R
A few others have hit serial number snags with valid serial numbers.
I had no snag when it came to downloading Anime Studio Pro. I entered my valid serial for Moho and went to the download wihtout a hitch. The new serial issued with A.S. also worked like a charm when unlocking the new program. The only snag I hit was when attempting to register A.S. via the e-frontier.com registration page. I noticed you posted a link to some of the discussion we were having about the specific serial issue many of us are having, which is a minor one that I'm sure will be fixed.
As for not being able to download A.S. because you are told your serial from Moho was not valid, well, that is another ball of wax entirely. I just wanted to clear that up. Hope all gets fixed for you guys too!
Without beating a dead horse, I've been around the Poser community well before it was under the E-frontier banner, and have been aware of other issues of a similar kind.
In the last couple rounds of Poser upgrades, and in regard to some new releases of other software, there have been issues with serial numbers being properly recognized by the automatic systems in place at Digital River, the fulfillment company used by EF for handling it's purchases-particularly those originating outside the US.
This seemed to be a frequent issue during the first week or two of the new release, and appears to be a DEEP database issue, that continues to be unresolved. I can only guess at the possible causes, but I think it may have to do with errors in translating owner data from more simplistic formats (i.e. Excel or Access databases) into the system used at Digital River.
On the positive side, this usually seems to get cleared up in fairly short order, and in the near term EF has always been helpful in addressing the issues (or at least keeping users abreast of the situation).
If one has, unfortunately, been tricked into getting a pirated copy of the software, I doubt there is much anyone will be able to do about it.
I just wanted to let people know that getting an "invalid serial number" -particularly if you are attempting to get fulfillment from outside the USA, may not necessarilly mean you have a bad number. In some cases, people were able to later enter the same serial number and have it work (i.e-it was being properly identified) However, contacting EF and waiting for a response is the best option, as repeated attempts at the automatic system could result in even further confusion and delays. -R
That's exactly what I recommend, and I apologize about the registration issues, this does happen every so often. There are alot of databases that are being queried also when using serials to upgrade & get deals on other products and they're being streamlined. I can assure you that we're working on it. That was one of the reasons it took us longer to provide Moho users the upgrade to Anime Studio. There's alot of coding done in the background to get things up to speed.
