Abrupt starts and stops

Post by Matt2fronteeth »

How can I get rid of the acceleration and deceleration of a moving layer in the timeline? The red curve on the timeline graph shows this gradual start and stop as a kind of sine wave. I want to make an object start at its top speed, with no acceleration, and stop abruptly with no deceleration. In other words, a sawtooth wave instead of a sine wave on the graph. How can this be done?

Rt click on the key frame/s and select "Linear" from the interpolation pull down menu.

You can have more than one key frame selected when you do this as well.

On Mac I think it is control click... my Mac has a rt click so I always forget.

Hey, thanks, that works! Although to do it you have to come out of graph mode. The key frames aren't displayed there. Like you say, it probably is CMD-click, but I have a three-button mouse too, so right-click did it.

The tutorial clouds look much better with linear motion. Never saw a cloud yet that started moving like the angel riding it had just stepped on the gas!

Now that sounds like an idea for an animation - angels driving the clouds around in the sky, stepping on the gas and braking to a screeching halt.
