I was looking in my thumbdrive and found the report I did from this survey. Thought some might be interested.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have some Sea Monkeys in "stasis". Since they aren't technically alive they probably don't count as a "pet".
But that would place me in your conclusions about artistic types having exotic pets.

I had a colony of Sea Monkeys that was 2 years old at one point. I don't know how many generations there were but I saw them "getting busy" all the time. They do grow quite large (1/4 - 3/4 inch) but do not have hands and feet as depicted in the ads.
I had started it off with a ceremony during which I called all my coworkers into my office to watch the "hatching". I had ordered every single Sea Monkey accessory from the "catalog". Total cost was about $70. This was way before you could order stuff on the internet. I had to snail mail my order.
I had the executive large black tank with a battery operated lighted magnifying projector to watch them swimming around projected on the wall. I also purchased the "special food" which made them grow faster and larger.
Unfortunately, I went on a vacation and neglected to have anyone add water to the "tank". It had evaporated completely on my return. I still have the tank with the eggs in stasis. They can "live" like this for many years.

I worked in the pet business for a long time and grew brine shrimp and other critters. In fact I purchased dried african killifish eggs via snail mail and bred a couple types -had lots of large mayonaisse jars with yarn 'mops' all over the house as they lay eggs daily, and grow so fast that the young from one day can eat the young born a day later.
I also had a cat, parakeet, dog and various other things at different times but I'm mostly a fish guy and bred many types of fish.
