I can't figure out how to export animation workably

This is in Moho.

It's basically good as an SWF, but if I import it into Flash 8, which usually renders video formats pretty good, it messes it up on import with sections being messed up with areas of color gone and generally screwey. If I export to a rasterized image sequence from Moho the image is ruined.

There's no 'strokes' or 'lines' in this thing, which is the conventional wisdom in Illustrator and Flash. In the future maybe I should do something else? But now I need to be able to export, when I finish this, from Moho. I like the way this looks so far and I'd hate to lose it. I've never used Moho before for anything, this is my first animation in it and I'd hate to not be able to use it since it seems pretty cool.

I'm not going to continue this until I know if I can export from Moho, but it's not close to done.

Is the character's head a vector shape or shapes drawn in Moho? It's mainly in the head that I see a difference in your raster image. I am wondering if some form of image resampling is the cause.

As for importing into Flash I never tried that.

This has happened to me. What looks fine in an .SWF render from AS looks very differemt when imported into Flash. I came up with a solution that worked for me, but I'm sure it's not going to be to everyone's tastes, if past experience is anything to go by...

Like you, I don't use lines in AS -- the line thickness thing does not import well into Flash. What I do is separate fills from surrounding "strokes". These are placed on different layers. I try to keep everything simple -- I will further break down a complicated outline into a couple of layers if necessary.

If there are any textures or patterns I need to import into AS for subsequent export into Flash and I know they will not be deformed, (bracelets, headdresses, tools etc) I import them as .PNG files. This saves a lot of heartache.

Eventually I developed a testing regime where I just import three or four layers at a time into Flash -- then, if there are any problems, I can identify them a lot quicker.

Hope this helps,

J
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

It's all vector art, I just never used strokes for it except maybe to cut stuff since Flash kind of works that way. But its all deleted immediately so its just fills.

I think the problem was that anti aliasing was set on, except without it looks also horrible. I'll have to mess with that area of the program and look for more options because neither one of these ways is acceptable.
