Growing Fast

Post by artfx »

Is anime studio selling well? I have only been here a short time, but when I first arrived, I noticed the total number of forum members was in the mid 4000's or so. Now it is past 5200 it seems. That could be a good sign of Anime Studio catching on.

If you take a look at the memberlist, you see that most of those "members" didn't post anything.

So they're lurkers? I can live with that...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Anime Studio used to be Moho and many people had used it for years. That's why there were 4000 registrations when you signed on.

As for the 5200, I can't help but suspect that awareness and acceptance of Anime Studio is on the upswing now that e-frontier is behind the marketing push.

Unfortunately as Slowtiger was suggesting, this newfound semi-fame is also attracting forum spammers as well as lurkers.

Most of that number are the accounts of spammers. We can delete the posts but the account must be deleted by the administrator.

Originally I didn't think it was that big a deal, but I guess as Moho gets more popular, so comes the SPAM. I saw three at once in here today. That's new for me. I want Moho to grow though. I want Anime Studio to be huuuuge!

Same here. I'd actually like to do more with Anime Studio - I've pretty much only tinkered. I think it is reaching critical mass as more studios try it out, likely to explode and more jobs appear where this would be great to know.

One of these days when I can I need to see if any of the experienced guys live near me in Southern Cal -get together for 3-4 hours some Saturday as I learn best by seeing and doing. Left to my own devices I tend to jump around too much.

There are also a lot of unregistered users reading the posts. I often see 10 besides 4 registered users, which I didn't see when AS was still Moho. It is possible that those unregistered users simply have logged out and are reading as guests, but I think there are quite some people highly interested in Anime Studio, especially among Flash animators.

Furthermore, because this forum is so active and the users are so responsive with their answers to questions or appreciation of what others have created, I don't think it would be wise to merge it to with e frontier's forums. This forum has earned its place in cyberspace and should remain at the same location.

Anime Studio is doing well

Post by Fahim »

Hi,

Anime Studio is doing really well. Many retail outlets that we sell into have mentioned that it's quickly become a favorite among customers. And it's selling really well off of our website.

I really think that this forum and all of you have contributed to make it a success.

Thanks everyone!

That's good to hear. I guess you know by now that there are a lot of rabid fans on the forum. I'm seeing more and more accomplished Flash animators mentioning Moho/Anime Studio on their sites. I am sure that if you and Mike keep pushing the quality of the product and addressing concerns its popularity will continue to increase exponentially.

Not necessarily. I'd rather see more stability, the use of hardware acceleration and a better help function (with a search feature). I'd also like to see some extra features in the Lua interface. The ability to store values in layers, full access to the naming of Shapes and Styles, to name a few.

So I rather see a more solid product than more features.

And BTW exponential growth is often a bad thing. Often developers can't keep up with the demands of the users. And if AS is going to be used by big studios, there are going to come some BIG demands for certain features, especially better integration with Flash, which is still the industry standard.

It's grown by more than 200 since started this thread. I am guessing, based on what Fahim said, they can't all be spammers. Looks like it's taking off!
