Download my bone controlled mouth file...

Post by heyvern »

In another thread the idea of using bones for controlling a mouth was brought up.

Just for grins I gave it a shot and came up with a kind of fun (but very simple) file.

Zip with moho and wav sound file

Just the moho file

There isn't a lot of control with this yet (no asymmetrical posing) but it still has some potential for doing really quick lip syncing. I may try to add more controls if I can. With the inherent limitations in AS constraints this may be as far as I can go with it.

I will play around with it.

p.s. Yes I know the upper teeth shouldn't go up and down... it's a cartoon! Give me a break!

Thanks, I was pondering on this problem. You have just given me a new angle.

About those upper teeth. Isn't it possible to put them in a separate layer, bind it to a new bone, and use some bone constraints to cushion the movement of that layer?

That's sort of what I have now. It could be done "correctly" with the current set up I just didn't spend the effort.

They use this technique in 3D programs for doing mouths as well. Bones are just the bomb. 8)

heyvern. wow. that is really clever.
i haven't end understand this yet. but you are pushing moho to its limits.

thanks for share. i will study your file (is perfect in many senses, and i don't like switch layers, this doesn't work fine when you have complex shapes in several layers inside several layers...).
