For newcomers- what's the diff'? [Moho vs. A.S.P.5]

Post by marin »

Hi-
For the benefit of all of us familiar with Moho but not the new E-Frontiered Moho, what *exactly* are the differences between them?
Or is this mostly-to-entirely a rebranding exercise???
Thanking you in advance...

Sub'

PS: I guess this is good for Moho but i'm sad it had to be e-Frontier. I tried to contact them once about another of their products, Motion Artist. Tried. Good products but a buy-or-move-along kind of company.

Unfortunately, the exact differences between Moho and Anime Studio have not yet been published by the developer. We (the users) have discovered some, but it might just well be that there are more undiscovered differences. We would have to reverse engineer to know for sure, but, alas, this is not allowed by the End User License Agreement:
YOU MAY NOT REVERSE ENGINEER, DECOMPILE, DISASSEMBLE, OR OTHERWISE REDUCE THE SOFTWARE TO ANY HUMAN READABLE FORM.
So, if you want to know what the exact differences are, you can best ask e frontier.

Hi Marin,

I am sorry to hear that no one answered your issue regarding MotionArtist. I can more than help you out, I am also responsible for that product.

If you'd like you can PM me or send me an email directly
fahim@e-frontier.com.

Regards,

Fahim

Thanks to all for the help-

It is regretable that there seems little difference after all, but, i've since learned E-Frontier is a small struggling company with a good attitude. So, sales, permitting, i'm sure we can expect good things from them, and should all try to support them.
Fahim, an e-frontier rep contacted me, answered all my questions, and even offered me a free Motion Artist 3. So my problems were in spite of their best efforts, not because of them.
This whole buy-out/rebranding reminds me of Expression and Microsoft. Expression was a great vector app with a gui from hell [an object lesson there: doing one thing great AIN'T good enough!]. Anyway, Microsh*t bought them out, renamed, tweaked, and rereleased it. With the same stinker GUI! LOL. And they had millions of dollars to play with!

PS: that last part was anti-Microsoft, not anti-E-Frontier

I remember when that happened. I was hoping that Livingcels would get a lot of help but it appears to have either disappeared entirely or to have been transmogrified into one of the Expression spin-off products. I've noticed how Microsoft has removed almost all of the artsy kind of charm from its marketing of Expression and replaced it with all this boring corporate BS.

Luckily, not all companies are like Microsoft, or want to be. e f seems to be mainly interested in creative people and not so much in the corporate environment.

Creative people aren't so easily fooled by sweet talk and false promises. At the moment, Anime Studio isn't really an improvement over Moho, and e f should be working hard to develop the program further from where Lost Marble had left it in Moho 5.4. That's a tough cookie, because 5.4 was already a very able animation program.
