Control visibility of Particle script throughout animation?

Post by StopMo »

Hi,

I'm running through the tutorials, and wondering how I would control the visibility of some sparkles. I want them to:

1) Trail a certain object (as it moves around, can the way that they're emitted be changed?)

2) Only appear intermittently, not for the whole scene.

In accomplishing 1), can any of the particle properties be controlled by a bone and it's movement/angle?

And for 2), if I want them to show up, disappear, and show up again, would I have to creat mulitple instances, or can I just control their visibility through keyframes?

Thanks!

The only keyframe you can put related with particle layer is "Turn particles on/off" by right clicking into particle folder. Everything else is for the whole animation.

Bones can be applied to vector layers used as particles - if that helps.

LostMarble posted this example some time back

I've seen a discussion in this forun where a smoke was modified using boones but it was previously converted to a video.
