Hey, just wanted to thank Moho (anime studio.)

My first animation using Moho was picked up by IFC and can be seen this week on their show - Media Lab.

And thanks for the forum help.

Great product!

Thanks for the assist Rasheed.

I guess I should say my first COMPLETE animation that I had actually planned, scripted and done lip sync for.

Prior all I had were some tests that I lumped together, set to music and called it "my demo."

But lets face it, with A.S., you can rough out and character and having it talking and moving in minutes. That's a major thing for a one man studio.

I have to say, my work to this point, isn't exactly "art" like yours. I'm shooting for what it says instead of how it looks. But South Park does the same thing and it worked for them.

But now I find myself studying the style and movement of classic animation. I would LOVE to do some of that stuff, I just don't have years or months to do it.

I believe the only productive way to learn that is to take lessons from a master Disney animator. And even then, it took Richard Williams several decades to become a master animator. Strangely enough he started not by studying animators, but by studying classical master draftsmen.

If you can't properly draw, you can't properly animate. Being able to draw whatever you want is a prerequisite for any good animator.

Hmmm, I guess it's useless then. Thanks for pointing that out. You just saved me two decades Rasheed. Now if I could only draw. I knew I was forgetting something.

I wonder if the South Park guys consider themselves "good animtors?" They got their start cutting out pieces of paper and moving them around.

I didn't mean that good animators always have good styles, only that they are so good at drawing that they can adjust their particular animation style to the subject. South Park doesn't need an elaborate drawing style, so it hasn't got one. I'm sure those Maya (South Park is done in Maya IIRC) artists are capable enough to do a whole range of other animation styles.

I'm told that if you try to draw as good as you can every day, even the most mediocre draftsman becomes an accomplished draftsman after some years of drawing. Just hang in there, and keep drawing, and drawing, and drawing. New things, things you see in your daily commute. Try to draw a skinny person as if he were fat, a women as if she were a man, a car as if it could talk, etc.

We can't all be top athletes (or master draftsman), but we can try to get as good as we possibly can by improving ourselves. If you like to learn new things, and think life is the greatest teacher of all, you are an artist at heart.

Well, back to the point: Joe wants to know if we like his work.

We do!

Good animation, funny characters, and a great vocal repertoire.
