a quick question

Post by sorrowandremorse »

lets say i create a layer and give it the spots effect. than i continue to go on with my project and every new layer i create, i accientally make them all spots because i can't see a difference until i render. is there a way to go about taking off the spots? ive tried reselecting it and going to plain but that doens't seem to work. can you also make a change in Anime Studio so it each layer resets back to normal?

oh and one more quick question. is there a way to make the line width of your shapes and such 0, cuz i try and it always goes to .25.

thanks for your help and support

Sorry,

If you have a bunch of shapes with an effect (shapes have "effects" like spots, not layers) The only way to remove it is to select each one with the SELECT SHAPE TOOL and set the effect to <plain>. If you are selecting <None> that is the wrong menu. That is the menu to select named shapes or named styles not fill effects.

If you have tried this and it still doesn't remove the effect from your shape you could be using the CREATE SHAPE TOOL by mistake.

The select shape tool is just to the left of the create shape tool in the default tool palette of AS ("default tool palette" because many of us use custom tools and our tool palette looks quite different).

What I like to do is apply saved styles to shapes as much as possible so I can change them all at once. If for instance you did want spots on all those shapes and later wanted to change their color you could do this in one place instead of clicking on 50 different shapes.

Keep in mind that whatever style is set in the style palette will automatically be applied to new shapes that are created. With no shapes selected what ever style is in the palette will be used for a new shape. Make changes to it FIRST then create a new shape.

Stroke width

You can't set a stroke width to zero, but you can turn it off in the style palette. If you want it to be 0 then turning it off makes sense. To turn off the stroke select the shape and uncheck the "Enable Outline" check box in the style palette.

You can also use the "hide edge" tool (press "H") and click on a segment of the shape to hide that stroke. This is handy. It only hides the stroke between two points.

:?: heyvern? You CAN set a stroke width to zero!. Not in the style window but applying a keyframe to the line width!! . Just select the line width and click and drag over the point of the shape you want line width to be 0. That is an animated value not the static value definition of the outline of the shape. For example you can have a shape with a defined outline of 1 (all the points) and during the time the line width can be 0 Later you can restore its original line width (o its default =1 in this case) using the menu "Reset Line width" under Draw.

great tip, again again, genete.

vern, i don't know about how many time this feature is working, but the fact is you just can see the result rendering. in the preview, the line seems to still being there.

thinks like this should be wrote in some place. we can't depend of genete all the eternity.

Okay hold on there fellows! I have a reputation to protect! ;)

You are talking about two completely different "widths". Our questioner was asking specifically about stroke widths set in the style palette.

There is the overall stroke width in the style palette and there is the width determined by the width of a POINT with the line width TOOL.

Two different things.

The line width tool will reduce to 0 but the line is still there. Let's say you set the width of two points on a line to 0. There is still a faint line. The best thing is to set the points to 0 width and then HIDE the stroke between them The width goes to zero then it just vanishes.

This is actually something I hope to be improved in a future version. When setting the line width the stroke width is completely ignored. I would like line width to be based on stroke width so it could be increased by changing a saved style.

No you can't animate the hide/show line attribute.

The best you could do would be to animate line width with a step key frame.

I've done this before but you need enough points in the right place to make it work. By setting the line width to 0 on two points the line is... almost... hidden.
