Newbie question about using a soundtrack

Post by oh blessed thought »

I was wondering if there is any way to have the soundtrack start at a certain frame, or does it have to start on frame zero? I want my character to start speaking after he walks into the frame.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

The soundtrack must start on frame 0.

You could find a sound editor and add to the front of the sound or search on the forum for a menu script called "Pad Sound" or something like that.

It will add as much padding as you need to the front of the sound and save out a copy.

in fact the soundtrack starts at the beginning of the project (I mean at the first frame of the project settings) usually is the frame 1 but you can set it to any frame. Just set a soundtrack and try to redefine the project settings later. The sound tracks pads to the first render-able frame.
If your character walks from frame 'a' to frame 'b' and later speak from frame 'b' to frame 'c' then you can render:
'a' to 'b' without sound track.
'b 'to 'c' with sound track.
Late merge the two videos into a single one with a a video editor.
That's the best way I can suggest.
