Simple Welding Question....I think.

Post by robert.hiester »

I am very new to AS. I'll put this as simply as I know how.....When I use the add points tool to start a new shape, lets say a 3 pointed shape. I make my first two welds and when I weld the 3rd point back to the 1st (or original) point, this third and final weld acts quite differently than the other two welds in the shape....Ex: When I translate that point it reveals another point behind it and instead of one a oval/round shape with three points I get what looks like a lasso with 4 points. Also, this third weld does not have the same curviture as the first two. My question is: How do I make this last weld act like the first two welds?

Thank you.

You are getting an extra point in there somehow.

Make sure you are only clicking once for the first point or the last point.

Sometimes when I've had too much coffee and my hands aren't steady I "double click" when drawing and will create those multiple points.

It is hard to be sure exactly what is happening with out seeing how you are working. Just remember to draw with the add point tool you just click and drag, click drag, click drag connect.

Could it be your mouse or input device is not working properly? I had a problem when my mouse was broken and it would put in extra points while I was drawing because the left mouse click would "release" and "re-click" for no reason while I was dragging the new point.

I was clicking twice on the first point. Doh! Thanks Vern.

Hmm, you shouldn't need to do those first two welds at all. You can just click and continue the line.

Here's a quick tutorial on drawing a triangle.
