a boy and his cyclops-

Post by sinclair »

I've been working in this for a while now, the content is definitely not everyones cup of tea(a hyperactive twelve year old cannibal and his irritable cyclops mentor), but good for a guilty laugh-

I stopped it at half, there was only talking, no action ... but it's a very nice style, especially the background treatment which blends perfectly with the characters. Now add some more specific poses, and some real movement, and you got a nice series.

Thanks for the comments, we're working on another batch of 'em right now, (the next batch'll have alot of action in 'em) And the general content is changing focus-

This was the last one completed in this batch and I think it turned out the best-

The style is excellent with the characterization. I agree with the need for some smoothing of movement and motion, but all in all if you did this as a series the folks that produce South Park would be out of a job! This is really dark humor with absolute off the scale subject matter... I have no doubt you could score high on the bucks chart. Even in limited market or with limited series eps. You have the skills of keeping content moving, the writing is continous throughout the set. The voicing needs just some minor tweeking in the volume levels sense. Good voicing of characters, and the scenario is really out there! This would go really good in a sort of Sci-Fi meets the darkside way... my two cents!
"'member boys and girls,...mr. Grenade is our friend and will protect us! BUT when we pull the pin on mr. Grenade, we want him over there with our enemies far awaaaay from us,.. because he isn't our friend any more!!!" -sum flung dung the wise.

I like the fact that there is not much movement in the animation. It allows one to focus on the witty/sarcastic/sardonic dialogue. Of course I am partial to dialogue (I am not a big action/thriller movie fan).

I really like these shorts, awesome play on words and the drawings are original and match with the "out of this world" subject matter perfectly. I say keep on producing the animated shorts just like they are. It is your own style and that's a good thing in my book.

I'm looking forward to watching more of your work.

Thanks for the comments-

As far as the "smoothing" my wife describes it as "bobble head" (why can't they just stand still?)-

As far as new completed stuff; we did a minute and a half bit for a fellow animator-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ENnMBthgUE

It's at the end of his short-

Yakovich is a good bloke (I love saying "bloke", so much cooler than saying "chap")

One of his toons was featured by you tube-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N6d5470Iw8

As for right now; I'm currently animating Nut Conundrum #38 (working title)

It's looking like this-

Image

It's the first actual short I've worked on this year and I should have it wrapped up in a couple weeks. Nut will be the last short from the first recording sessions, (and the best as far as I'm concerned). There was a very crazy learning curve on that first batch of shorts, some of them worked and unfortunately some did not, but all of them (at one point or another) made it up onto you tube-

As far as Sin and Kristshun as a series; let's just say we've plugged out about fifty story lines for upcoming shorts this year. Less than half of those will actually be written out and of those written out; only half will be animated. So the flow of material may be slow but the aim is for top notch material-

(at least top notch material as far as depravity and immorality is concerned)

In the coming shorts Kristshun's pyromania will come to the surface and Sin's little problem with alcohol will become evident-

It'll be interesting to say the least-
