still fretting about switching

Post by kfried27 »

okay,
I believe I have the layers set up correctly. I have the mouth layer with four images inside. Then I have the eye layer with four images inside. The mouth layer and eye switch layers are not "inside" one another. The mouth is still working great, my blinking is still iffy. Any ideas as to why I am so lame? Also, it appears from what I read all over this forum that I am the only person flummoxed by switch layers....do I need to ask my father if I was dropped on my head as an infant?

oh wait, I am messing around with windsor and think I understand this better. I just noticed that the eyes and mouth switch layer is "under" the windsor/bone switch layer.

This might help:

All the layers are inside a bone layer. This can be whatever you want. This bone layer could be a "head" bone layer inside another bone layer. The point is that the switches would be inside this layer so they can be controlled along with the head.

The mouth and eyes switch layers and the head vector layer are at the same "level" inside the parent bone layer.

If your mouth switch works then this should work.

There is something about the winsor file you should be aware of. The eyes are a kind of interesting set up. There are different switches INSIDE other switches for different variations. This can make it kind of confusing both to understand and to animate since you could set switches inside other switches. I haven't looked at the winsor file but I seem to recall that there were alternate eye colors and maybe expressions inside switches inside switches.

thanks Vern! I had been using the windsor set up to try to figure out where I was going wrong.
