Adding faces to an existing GIF

Post by tberry »

How do I .. add a face to an existing GIF from the Web?

For example, take a picture of a running horse and place a person's head over it.

I'm sure this is very easy, but I cannot find or figure out how to do this.

Thanks so much!

"Blend Two Animations frame by frame to easily generate a composite animation. It's never been easier to put two animations side by side or a new background behind a sprite animation."

http://www.gamani.com/product_animated.htm

This is something I do all the time.

( Not with a horse, of course... ! )

( PS Sorry, Windows only. )

Ok, but I wanted to know if Anime 5 can do this.

I dowloaded the trial version of this other program, and I did not see any editing commands for inserting a picture over an existing GIF. I did not want to change the background or color of the GIF.

Am I missing something? If so, would you be so kind as to tell me the commands that allow me to put a face over an existing animation?

Also, does anyone know if Anime Studio 5 can allow me to do what I am trying to do.

I just tried importing an animated GIF into AS and it only showed the first frame, so I doubt whether the format is recognized.

Here's how you put animated face into an existing GIF animation with Movie Gear.

You can do this (1) automatically or (2) manually.

(1) You use the "Blend animation" feature to composite the new animation over the frames of the old one.

The new animation--your face picture--must have a clear background.

You load the horse animation first.

Then choose "Blend animation with..." and load your replacement animation.

The resulting dialog box will allow you to move the replacement animation to the correct position on the frames.

If one of the animations is shorter than the other, it will repeat frames from the short animation to match the longer one.

Tell it OK, and it will composite the two animations.

(2) The other way to accomplish this is to save the animated GIF as a filmstrip.

The filmstrip graphic can be loaded into your paint program, so you can modify the individual frames by hand.

Once you've modified the frames, you can reload the filmstrip.

---------------

PS Those of you running Mac or Linux can accomplish similar tasks using the Gimp Animation Package (GAP) which is an extension of GIMP.
