Why not open Anime Studio?? If have GPL Code is ilegal sale it, without open code
Anime Studio 5 contains GPL code and is ilegal sale it
Moderators: Víctor Paredes, Belgarath, slowtiger
Anime Studio have parts of GPL code
Which is the price of releasing the code?
As was done with Blender
Anime Studio have parts of GPL code
As was done with Blender
Anime Studio have parts of GPL code
This is a serious accusation. Can you provide any evidence for it? If not, please refrain from spreading misinformation. As far as I can see, all third-party code which is used is correctly attributed in the "about" window. Maybe your understanding of GPL is not deep enough.
As it happens, I know one of the main forces behind gpl-violations.org personally, so I asked him for a quick check - if he finds the time.
I'm no coder and couldn't tell a piece of code from an overdue camembert. Vern, Genete, or Mike himself could much better explain wether this holds any truth or not.

Whilst we could delete it, this is one for Lost marbles to handle. He has access to the posting data and therefore might want a/ to clarify the legal situation, and b/ make a copy of the thread to pass to his lawyers.The400th wrote:MODS: Delete this thread, please, it's designed to denigrate and damage AS.
As I see it, Mike has listed correctly any code included in the program, listing the copyright sources. HE wouldn't have done that without first checking the legalities of the stuff he had included. If he had included any legally-iffy bit of code, I seriously doubt he would have published the fact in the splash page.
For me, the post stays: You have done the homework for everyone to see, and I think Joe Public will see ciriaco08 is now out on a limb.
The ball in in ciriaco08 for him to back up his libelous claims or repent.

Anime Studio does use a small part of the Anti-Grain Geometry library, it uses version 2.4, which is NOT licensed under the GPL.
See below for the license for AGG 2.4:
http://www.antigrain.com/license/index.html#toc0002
While Anime Studio is a closed-source product, I have great respect for software authors that release their work as open source, and would never violate their licenses. AGG 2.4 permits products like Anime Studio to use it, and I even had a nice conversation with the author of AGG a couple years ago at Siggraph. I believe he was in the process of turning it into a commercial library, which is probably why he switched over to the GPL for version 2.5 - to prevent commercial products from using it.
Version 2.4, however, was already released before the switch to the GPL, and is perfectly legal to use in a closed-source product.
Please, before accusing someone of illegal activity in public, maybe try asking them about it privately first.

I think we need to leave this thread up so others can see the truth. Otherwise this might happen again.
Ignorant trolls. Where's a billy goat when you need one? I would have used one of mine but I sacrificed my last one in a pentagram in the basement last night.

p.s. NOT a satanist. Just being funny.
