A "toggle" to make Pro work like standard...

Post by heyvern »

I desperately need this. It is very difficult to know what works and doesn't work in AS Standard if you don't have it. Asking other users to test a file is useless to me. I can't rely on that. I want to test it myself so I can fix it or change a tutorial etc.

All that is needed is a simple toggle that will force the pro version to only function as standard.

Nice thinking heyvern! That would be a nice and very much needed feature.

Maybe pro users could get a "free" copy of standard. Link it to the same serial number somehow or tie it to the same "account" so it won't be misused.

Maybe this could be part of a special "developer" thing so people like me and others trying to help the community can do more thorough testing.

Often I will read a question or problem on the forum and since I have AS open ALL THE TIME anyway just fire it up and test it out. I never know for sure if I am causing more problems or confusions because I am referencing the pro version.

Better yet would be a VERY DETAILED feature difference list. The current comparison chart is not thorough. Something that explains SPECIFICALLY AND IN DETAIL what is different.

My main issue is scripting. I think a standard user could open a "Pro" file that has a linked layer script and it still works. They just can't remove it or change it (you can but I won't say how). Is this true? I don't know for sure. If so I wouldn't worry about creating custom scripted character rigs for public use.

My bone grouping script requires replacing ALL the tools with ones I have modified slightly (added 3 to 4 lines of code to each tool script) as well as a separate utility script. Can a standard user use this?
