OpenOffice Draw now vectorizes

Post by human »

There is a consensus now that the best way to have vector drawings in AS is to manually draw them in AS.

I don't dispute that, but some of you may still be interested in free raster-to-vector software anyway, perhaps to generate SVG (which is not recognized by AS).

I just tried out the new edition of Open Office and found that Draw will vectorize color images and export them to SVG.

Note however that it does not export to .AI, although it will create PDFs, and I assume these are vector PDFs.

It would be really good if AS did support SVG in the next /AS6 edition - this open source language is becoming increasingly popular with web browsers and other programs.

It's also supported by a variety of renders.
