I'm having a devil of a time, suddenly, applying a fill to a shape. When I select all the points of the object, and click the fill tool and then press the space bar, all I can get is an outline, no fill. I don't get the checkered pattern that indicates fill, only an outline. I've checked that the points are all welded together, and they are. I've never had this trouble before. What can be causing this? I'm sure it's some stupid little thing I'm overlooking, but I can't find it. Any suggestions?
It's driving me nuts!
I'm using ASPro 5.6 on a Mac, OS10.4.11.
thanks, Jack

I'm not sure exactly how to do that. I did try using the Delete Edge tool, and deleting each edge one at a time, then using Cmd-Z to bring it back. I didn't find any extra edges that way. I also selected each point one at a time, and pulled it out to see if there was an extra point under it, but didn't find any. What's a better way to check for this?

The only way to have this problem is due to incorrectly connected points. This can happen with really complex shapes.
Look for spots that might NOT be connected. Maybe you missed two points you think are connected but they are just very close. One trick is to save a copy of the document and rip it apart. Delete any mesh or points unrelated to the problem area and try to figure out where the problem spot is. Once you find it, it might make it easier to fix in the original.
Last resort... start over... delete the points or at least break them apart and make sure they are connected properly.
You could post the file and have some of us look at it.

To discover not connected points you can do the following:
1) Select all the points.
2) Create the outline shape only.
3) Select the shape and modify its thickness to a big value (between 10 and 15 would be enough)
4) You'll see the not welded points by the broken outline where they are.
Hope this works.

Thanks Genete. I did that and I saw that some of the corners did not come to a point, but I could see the ends of the lines (not a true corner). I guess those would probably be points that were not connected? But I selected those points and pulled them, and the lines moved with them, instead of separating, so I don't know what's going on there. Is there a way to disconnect points?
As far as posting the file, I could have done that, but before I read your post, vern, I got frustrated and deleted the offending outline and redrew it with one that works. Sorry about that! it would have been good to do that and see if one of you could diagnose it. Next time I'll save a new copy before I do that.
thanks for all your help.
