[language cross-grade] Why should I pay twice ?

What I mean is, there is very little evidence that Smith Micro are listening to users -- or, indeed, doing anything...In the software world, you get used to dropped deadlines, but the silence is now deafening as far as AS is concerned. And meanwhile, this "representative" is merely stating the company's position. (That's the long version...)
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
It is all about image and "perception" of the company by its customers.
The French language "side grade" cost ONLY effects PREVIOUS owners of AS. New purchasers are not going to be annoyed. That is why they shouldn't charge current users for it. Smith Micro should take the "loss" as an investment in "good will", but make it up in NEW customers (the French version will attract customers who wouldn't have purchased with out it).
People who wanted a French version and purchased the English only version would have GLADLY purchased the French version if it had been available. Instead of "waiting" THEY invested in the future of the software.
The money they spent helped pay for the French version in the first place! This is a small reward. So SM makes the current French customer base very annoyed in the process which is just bad for everyone, the company and the customers.
p.s. Jean_R, I put a "wink" next to my "feature request". I didn't intend for you to take it seriously. I've already made enough requests for this directly. I'm obsessed with the scripting by the way.

Jahnocli, thank you very much for your long version.
I had confidence in editor such as for Corel for Painter (ok, I aim high) but the successive changes of editors for AS does not make me confidence in the development of this software any more than the "shop approach" launched by E-frontier. Wait and see ...
HeyVern, I take things too much to heart at times, so my lack of second degree is unforgivable.
What I regret is that I will not necessarily have enought money for the next version when it comes out.
I am somewhat surprised by the ambivalence of Anime Studio, taking advantage of its very active community, to contribute significantly to its development and in the other side the marketability of the showcase site. (Unless I was wrong all along the line and that you are, you and many others on this forum, employees).
Have nice day, all, and I hope to "meet" you again on more creative posts
This time I have use Google translation in order to avoid misconceptions x_X

I'm totally agree with your point of view. The money they spent helped pay for the French version in the first place!

Thanks for the compliment! I take it as a compliment to have my unpaid contributions here to be considered worthy of being thought of as produced by a paid employee. The only "fee" I ever received from efrontier was a free copy of Anime Studio for the Mac. I had Moho and used my other "free" update for the PC.(Unless I was wrong all along the line and that you are, you and many others on this forum, employees).
I wish with all my heart I WAS an "employee" of "efrontier" or "Smith Micro"... or ANYONE really. I work from home as a freelance graphic designer/web developer. Working at home and with work slow I have way too much time to spend here.

I've been accused of being some sort of corporate "under cover agent" in the past. When Moho was bought by efrontier and the name changed to Anime Studio, a member of the forum was convinced I was a shill to do "anime style" work so people could see why the name change was appropriate. (I don't even like anime and never considered my "style" to be anime.

Let the record state: I swear under penalty of perjury (I have my hand on my "Mac Bible" since I can't find that other one right now), I am NOT an employee of the current or any previous distributors of Aniime Studio or Moho. I just truly LOVE this freaking awesome application. Amen, and God (or whatever spiritual entity you choose.) bless America.

p.s. I love Animation:Master the same way. Hash inc. has actually given me more stuff over the years (including 3 or 4 free updates, a stack of 3rd place plaques for the monthly image contest, a bunch of animation instructional DVDs, and a really cool Buzz Light Year telephone.) than anyone associated with AS. I should feel very guilty I don't spend more time on their forum although that is going to change soon. They gave me my very own personal forum sub topic on the A:M forum.
