Image texures help please!

Post by pozlang »

Does anyone know how to keep image textures from sliding around the shape as it moves? Is there a menu I'm missing somewhere? Thanks for any help!!

Attach your Image to a Bone-Layer and animate the Bone.

Thanks for getting back to me Nolan. That's very confusing! My head has a bone controlling it, yet the image texture (hair) moves around as my character's heat turns. I'm using the image textures you can load though the style panel, not the kind you make in photoshop an import as an image layer. The hair texture seems to want to remain "upright" in the shape rather than turning with it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there a switch somewhere that tells AS to fix the textures?

Thanks!

I'm afraid that's just what the image textures do. Basically if you wanted to turn the texture within a vector shape, you'd have to rotate the whole thing by bone and then rework you points to fit what you had.

You'd probably be better off masking an image layer.

aww darn. I was hoping there was some other menu. I appreciate the answer anyway. I'll take another crack at using image layers. Thanks.

Well, here is a very simple example... head and hair... sort of...
the texture stays “put” as it should be...

Hmm... I may be confused about the question but if you use region or flexible bone binding on the bone layer and the bone strength is large enough to cover the points and the points are flexible bound the image texture should move with the rotation of the bone (and points).

Bone distortion of an image texture effect in a shape does not work with layer binding. It only works with flexible binding.

I just tested it with one bone and a texture fill on a shape completely controlled by one bone follows and rotates with the shape.
