Alittle problem...AGAIN ...it's different thou

Post by Hero-Jaxx »

Okay... I know in a previous thread yall heard that I was Making a game that Uses Anime studio for the cutscenes well the game making was coming along great until the PROBLEM.

oKAY. Accouple of months back... like when summer started is when this all started happening... you see my virus protection, AVG, wouldn't download the Updates that was coming thru and it wouldn't update itself like it's saposed too. overtime the internet started shuting off on its own... programs on the computer are beginning to be impossible to run with out shutting off 15 minutes after.. then after awhile more the computer ultimately shut off because of overheating then we took it into the shop and fixed it but after words accouple weeks later the computer started freezing and shuting off by itself... with the update not coming thru I began to think its probably Malware or something... but the main fact is that I can't animate. and hour or ever 30 seconds while opening anime studio the computer either freezes or shuts off and restarts on its own... and it can't be because of overheating.. we've gotten that problem figured out... and I know its not because of the program being to much for it or else it would of shut off as soon as the program comes up. this either has something to do with AVG or some sort of virus... because I can't get into safe mode for some reason... I'm beginning to get VERY angry with this PC and postin everywhere for help... I mean right now I'm saving up for a new PC but it won't be until probably april of next year when I'll be able to get it... this is something very annoying to work with while trying to work on a project ya know... everytime it cuts off I have to restart ALLL over again... its really annoying... I need some help... not even the computer places can help without suggesting New PC or going to true experts in other states and I work so its extremely hard... -_- I need HELP!!!!
just tryin to be a better animator then the primative stuff I have now

This was happening to my daughters computer and I tracked it down to a loose USB connection. A tech told me about this a while back that it can cause windows to just reboot suddenly. I did'nt believe him until it started happening to me.

Worth a try?

Cheers

First of all, open up your machine and carefully vacuum-clean. The machines usually gets full of dust which over time leads to heating problems.
Next thing I guess you're using some kind of windows in your machine? If it's Vista, get rid of that and install windowsXP instead which are a lot less resource craving. If you're already running XP, reinstall it. Windows rotten over time.
If you would feel comfortable with it, get rid of windows completely and install some Linux-distribution, they are a lot less resource intensive than windows, less proned to fatally crash, there's hardly any viruses to worry about and the security is miles ahead of windows. (And Anime Studio runs perfectly under linux).
I would recommend Ubuntu or Fedora. (They're both free to download and use).

Yes, if your anti-virus can't update the odds are good you have something seriously wrong with your OS and need to reinstall. It's that simple.

As the previous poster said, reinstall XP (given the age of your machine that's most likely what you have). Unlike him, I actually would not recommend anything but Windows (if you were having trouble with this situation any other OS will be beyond your capabilities).

Just make sure you back all your data up first.

My previous PC had a faulty memory slot. It rebooted on it's own several times a day. Perhaps the memory module is corrupted ?
