Project Settings

Post by dm »

I can't get project settings to do anything when I type in dimensions. The only thing that works is the presets. Am I missing something here?

AS Pro 5.6 build 20080130p
MacPro OS 10.4.11
QT 7.5
5G RAM

thanks.

Works here, same OS. Do you have AS or AS Pro?

AS pro

I enter new dimensions, click OK, nothing changes. Use a preset, things change.

Another weirdness: selecting objects is being super fussy. Maybe it's time to try reinstalling.

If you change the dimensions and the proportions are the same there will be no visible change, 340 x 480, 680 x 960, both of these are the same proportion but different number of pixels.

If you change the PROPORTIONS then it will appear to change. Also settings that are close to each won't appear to change much, PAL and NTSC are fairly close and if you aren't watching closely you might not notice the change, it is very subtle.

OK, must ask more exactly: do the numbers get accepted after typing?

Yes, numbers were accepted. They even remained in the numbers boxes when reopening the project settings. I could enter 2000 x 200 and the frame lines wouldn't change (like staying 1.33:1).

I removed everything I could find for AS, and reinstalled, and it seems to be behaving properly now (doing what I expected, not what I was experiencing). Obviously, something went awry during installation (no, I don't have virus software, etc.)

Here's another, related question though. Is there a file somewhere that can be edited so that I can add my own presets to the preset dropdown list?

thanks for the response and assistance.

Not to my knowledge, and I searched all readable files for that.
