Switching to OSX, any experience with Smith-Micro?

Hi folks,

I'm switching to Mac OSX and would like to know how Smith-M handles purchases made from E-Frontier? I saw that today you can buy a hybrid CD for the same price as the electronic downloads. So I assume that these days you get the license for both OS's when you buy one.

Did anyone contacted SM before to ask for a license key and a download for the MAC?

Still I would like to hear your experiences with thge support of SM and in particular if you were getting the cross version for free or an updated price.

I read on the ContentParadies forum that someone had switched his Poser windows to the mac version for the price of the update.

Update: The final answer from SM is, that I have to pay the full price to get the Mac version. Makes not really sence to me as when you order a physical version from them, you get a hybrid CD with the windows AND the mac version on it.

That saves them money in production. Easier and cheaper to have one box, one disk for purchase of either version.

I understand it when you buy the CD, you get both versions for the price of one. But maybe I'm wrong.

It makes sense they would charge you for both versions - after all, you could keep your PC and your Mac and have two licences of AS running at the same time.

If you don't want to pay extra, you could run Parallels and run the Windows version from in there.

But they SHOULD allow you to switch at the next update, because there's less value in having two different versions, and they could deactivate your current serial number and grant you a new one. Try asking them about that. They might even let slip about when version 6 is coming out.

Actually I will then go the parallels way. Much easier and cheaper. 80 Euro for Parallels and 80 Euro for another WinXP CD.
