Anyone know how to properly create and rig a character so that his arms and legs are able to bend all the way with nice creases at the joints and consistent shape width. For example, when I do it the elbows and knees become incredibly skinny when bent all the way. Also, when the shapes intersects with itself, it becomes white. Is there a way to select points of a shape so that when overlapped, they sit on top. I know I once saw a tutorial or a moho file a long time ago which explained how to do this but I can't find it any more.
Thanks
Arm Bending with skin crease at joint and no skinny elbows

First the simple problem. the "white" shape. that is caused by the overlapping of ONE shape on itself. To fix that split the arm or leg into two different shapes at the joint. Use the same vector shape you have now just "split" it at the joint by connect the opposite points of the joint with a spline or line. Then fill each "half" of the shape separately. Now when the shapes overlap they won't create the hole.

This is the rig I use now for all of my joints. This is the best rig yet that I've come up with for the problems with joints. Yes, it looks complicated and it might take some tweaking but in the end it is worth it. I also have some tools in my scripting thread that can speed this up:

There is a tool for copying and pasting bones (the first one) and lower down is one for renaming bones. Used together these scripts can make short order of creating all the joint rigs needed for all four limbs.
Read the instructions for the tools. You can use them as buttons or as a menu script. The menu script needs AS Pro. Using as a button is easier.
