How Do I Put In Sprites?

I always put them in but there will be a square around it. For example If I get a picture of mario, Put it in paint and give it a white background, then put it in anime studio, there will be white in the corners. I pretty much need to mask it... but I dont know how to. And I will not just draw a square and trace the marion then I can only put 1 color and no detailed back ground. Please help!!

When creating your "sprites" you need to make the "white" background transparent in your graphics program and save as a PNG with transparency. I don't know if "Paint" has the ability to do this. I am unfamiliar with it.

If the image you have already has a transparent background you need to save it as a PNG with transparency to keep it that way. If Paint can't do this you need to find something that can like Photoshop (expensive, easy) or The Gimp (free, more complicated).
