Questions about Anime Studio?

Post by MrTech »

Hi I was wondering does anyone know of any commercial quality animations animated only with anime studio?(which include your own work), I would love to see them.

I am a beginning animator, and I am looking for a program that I can make a good animation in like a week, within a short time of learning.

I am going to use the software inkscape to draw vector graphics, I am planning to use the bone system in anime studio?, what programs would I use for the lip sync?,

Also is there any good tutorials or resources out there to help me learn this program?.

Any Help Will be greatly appreciated thank you.

There was a similar topic made just recently. Check it out:

I'm a beginner as well and I don't think I could have spent my money more wisely when buying ASP. It's easy and fast to use - learning animation with it is fun. Although easy to use it's very versatile and very powerful animation software.
AS can do lipsync quite easily but a lot of people use Papagayo that (free and compatible with AS).

I have used Inkscape for vector drawing and stuff earlier but these days I find ASP easier though it lacks the bezier handles - which - after awhile - you won't even miss.

Some tutorials come with AS and there are a lot of helpful video tutorials in YouTube.

I'm working on a pilot animation that i plan to screen at major film festivals in order to get noticed as an animator. I find AS to be adequate for the task. Of course, it requires good movie editing software (which was included on my Mac), and means to get professional sound recording (which I had already acquired, since I'm also a musician) to get a commercial quality film, AS pro is an inexpensive software package that will get excellent results.

look at these clips from the pilot I'm working on:

Go for it Franky.
Can I suggest a couple of things?

Look very carefully at the colours, you may want to do some subtle changes to make a more pleasing eyeful.
The scene with the monk in the spooky corridor, (I like the flickering light BTW- nice) you may also want to give the characters ankles and feet some movement, instead of being completely rigid.
I found my eye really drawn to that, so maybe I wouldn't have noticed the monk having no sandals on either.

Take a close look at the colours you are choosing, then take a look at some movies, designs or paintings with similar colour schemes to the mood you like. You could even open an image into the anime colour swatch.
Think about palettes and try and make some swatch palettes.
I only suggest this to be constructive, you may be able to surprise yourself with some new found colour skills . :D

Good luck with it all, good to see you making the effort to make a toon. 8)

Thanks for the advice and encouragement, Chucky.

Thanks for that- I've changed up several of the scenes. I'm experimenting to get the right look and create the right mood.

Yes, the walking in this scene is particularly difficult. The monk is intentionally barefoot (I just thought it made him look more austere), I'll consider giving him sandals. This scene has gone through several changes already, and I'll likely change it several more times.
