swf export has first frame overlaying the loop animation

Post by fracturedray »

When I export my animation the first loop plays fine but then when the 2nd loop starts the first frame never goes away. It just sits there on top of the looping animation.

Tried to get around this in many ways but either I got the problem or the swf file would crash each time I ran it.

Tried to add and remove frames to be rendered on the ends but nothing helped. Is there some setting causing this or is it a bug?

edit...
I can say if I use the "Extra SWF frame" and do a batch render then it will work properly but have that blank frame that doesn't look good, in it.

If your animation isn't optimized for SWF (little red dot on layers in the layer panel) or you're trying to use layer scripts or anything else not supported for SWF output, you'll have this trouble. Be sure you check out the section in the help on SWF output (Flash tips).

I usually see this when I'm trying to use layer scripts, but often something as small as using variable line widths will do it.

In the "Project Settings" there is a check box for "Extra SWF Frame". Check this box on and it will eliminate "overlapping loop" problem.

That extra frame setting doesn't usually do it for me, but then again I don't usually use much SWF output, so I don't even try to optimize anything. For my latest work, turning off the variable line widths option fixes it.

I'll bet DK knows all the SWF tips.

Okay, thanks guys.

For me I was able to fix the problem with the extra frame and then just removing it via MX Flash. Unfortunately the left eye of the character got messed up so this became moot.

Rendering without the line weight does get around the problem too and the file size is 1/4 as big this way.

Read up on the help info (sorry I didn't do this before) but now I know what to expect as I move forward.

Thanks guys

Hi synthsin75....yes....I have been ripping my hair out over this SWF stuff in the last couple days....I think it's those darn variable line widths that make the swf files play up and also make it so huge. If you save the file out without the variable line width button checked in AS you should get perfect playback of your swf files without that horrible image overlapping effect.

Cheers
