There's a FAQ post about adding sound, but the post is about MOHO, not studio 5 pro. The FAQ says that sounds/music cannot be added directly into MOHO, and must be added by using a video editor. I have an editor, but my intent is to make music videos and timing of animation events are critical. Adding the music track later will not suffice. I need to make video events occur on music beats.
Does Anime Pro 5 allow adding sounds or a music track? I'll be greatly disappointed if I cannot do this.
Adding sound?

Yes, you can use sound. AS Pro is based on the traditional approach to animation: first, you assemble a soundtrack, then you animate to the soundtrack. AS will only let you use one soundtrack at a time, and it doesn't have any editing facilities for sound, so this is something you will have to build elsewhere and then import.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
Thanks. That sounds fine, but let me make sure this is what it does. Is this right?:
You can import an audio file, then set key frames for the video on the timeline. Then, you can render your file and import that rendition into another video editor to add sound effects. Is this right?
If so, does Anime Pro display a graphic representation of the sound file (an envelope with peaks and valleys) on the time line? If anyone has a screen shot of the workspace with a sound file loaded, please post it.
Thanks.

You could do it that way, or you could also create the sound track entirely first and render it out with the animation. AS does render or export sound with the animation. It would make sense to add sound effects to the final rendered animation in another application rather than trying to do this all in AS. It would depend on your preferred work flow. If the sound effects timing is "locked" from an animatic or pre done audio track it could be all done in AS.
AS displays a wave form. It is not a "high resolution" wave form display but close enough for rough visual approximation. Scrubbing in the time line may still be needed to find a specific spot in the sound. Accurate real time playback is dependent on the speed of the computer and the size and complexity of the AS file. The more complex the file the less accurate your sound "sync" would be with real time playback in AS. This is probably the main reason to do sound effects (or anything but lip sync) out side of AS.
