rotating a wheel

Post by kfried27 »

I am trying to rotate a wheel- like a motorcycle wheel- and when I use rotate points- the wheel appears to get smaller as it rotates. What is another way to accomplish this task?

Thanks

Place the wheel layer inside a bone layer and use a bone to rotate the wheel. It won't distort when rotate.

Or put the wheel in a layer of its own and use the Rotate Layer tool.

Although there is a "Rotate Points" tool, it isn't really rotating the points - it just moves the points to a new location. As you use the tool, the points appear to rotate, but that's just a user convenience. Points have just a location, and they move from one location to the next. (I hope that makes some sense. If not, just stick with the two suggestions offered - bones or layer rotation.)

Am I doing something wrong? when I put the wheel in a separate layer, and then used the rotate layer tool- it didn't spin like a wheel.

Fortunately, the bone really worked well.

make sure the cross that marks the centre of the layer is in the centre of the wheel.
