Coloring

Post by JeffZHigs »

I was working on a boxer in anime studio, by tracing in a vector layer the lines and stuff, and it was working really good until it came to coloring him in, it wouldn't add the colors, so I checked everysingle vector point and they were all connected, but it just wouldn't color it in.

any body know the reason why?
I'm a rookie animator, and am trying to get it right, slowly but surely

Hello Jeff

Have you checked the help tutorials?

You need to select the lines that make your shape, then press U on your keyboard, the shape should become square red, if not, you have not made your selection properlly. When it get dotted red, press the pressbar. It takes a bit of using to but you will get the hang of it.

Many people use the wrong tool. Make sure you are using the "Create Shape" tool and not the "Select Shape Tool". Also make sure that show fills and strokes are "checked" in the display quality settings. Also make sure that you are creating the shape ON FRAME ZERO not on any other frame.

This is some combination of user error or incorrect display settings. If you can post the file we can make sure that there isn't a problem with how the vectors are connected. Even if the points are all connected doesn't mean that a legal fill shape can be created.

Make sure also that you haven't turned off fills in display options.

Bottom right hand corner of main window, "display quality"
in there are check boxes. It's possible to have fills and lines
unchecked, and proceed to freak yourself right out trying
to work out what you've done wrong.

"My work! Oh WHY!! Oh... it's ok."

I know because I've done it.
