3D STEREOSCOPY/ANAGLYPH

Post by Mikdog »

Hi guys.

Ok, I gotz a question. Maybe Vern can help me, I know where was a post about this somewhere.

I see AS can render out in Stereo for stereo vision. I understand you need red/blue glasses to see the effect. I don't have the glasses, but they used to come free in some kids magazines like DINOSAURS that let you view some of the anaglyph images in 3D. Can't fine them damn glasses nowadays where I live.

What I'd like to know is how the output looks when viewed with glasses. I'm super keen to try something new. In kids shows these days it seems there's not a lot NEW things happening, so wondering if anyone's ever tried animation with stereoscopic vision or anaglyph, they have 3D TV screens now that you don't need glasses to see the effect. Wonder how one creates content for these. I'd dig to render out the separate depth layers in my HAPPY LAND short and composite them for a 3D TV to see what this looks like.

BUT for broadcast, if you make a show red/blue 3D (I think that's ANAGLYPH) and someone's wearing the glasses to see the effect, is the effect strong enough? Does AS do a good job? What's the stuff to know for those in the know? Please, share your knowledge! I am thirsty! What other neat NEW (ish) tricks can one achieve?

Nice. I see PIXAR announced that all its movies from now on will be created from the storyboard up with 3D in mind.

Thanks. ;)

I'm keen to know how the movie looks through the anaglyph glasses. If I upload a short movie clip, can someone tell me what it looks like? Anyone got the glasses?

HERE'S what I want to make 2.5D animations for:

If there's another contest on these forums I think it should involve making a 2.5 stereo anaglyph animation. Haven't really seen anyone utilize AS's stereo rendering capability. I rendered out my HAPPY LAND intro in stereo but couldn't find any 3D glasses!
