When you export your animation, there is an option to export as jpeg. If you only want to export one picture, then you can choose to export only one frame, by changing the amount of frames you wish to export at the top. calm down it will be ok

and if you don't know how to export animations, first, look at the tutorials, they are a lot of help, and a lot of the big guys on here get frustrated when ppl ask questions that can be answered easily in there. Second, i'll help you,go under file, and towards the bottom is the export animation command, it's pretty self explanitory from there

So...when I go to export, I have 2 options to save it under...QuickTime Movie or Flash SWF (There is no jpeg or pic file option). Thus, I tried to just change the extension, but when I do that it still comes up as a movie & some of my layers are missing...

Do you have AS Pro or standard? Because if i'm not mistaken, you have to have Pro in order to export as any type of picture file

Yeah..but do you AS 5 Pro, or AS 5 standard? by the sounds of it you have the standard edition, in which case I have no idea how to help you
becaues in order o export as any type of image file you have to have AS 5 Pro.

I'm not sure, but it should be possible to render the current frame with apple+R and then save the result, een in standard.

another option - if you just want a single frame - is set your timeline to the part you want and render that (ctrl + R) and then take a screen shot of the render window and paste it into your image editing software - photoshop etc.

screen shots - on a PC there is almost always a 'prt scr' button
there are lots of free screen grabbing software available

Yes, slowtiger is right - render the frame and, down the window bottom, "save as"

Yep.

PC: CTRL + R, then SAVE AS...

MAC: APPLE + R, then SAVE AS...

Then eat a piece of cheese, take the dog for a walk, and visit your nearest print shop and tell them the story about a boy who ate a piece of cheese and get a 5% discount. T&C apply.

Sorry guys, but the non-Pro version of AS doesn't have any saving options in the ctrl+R render. So the only option is a screen shot, like Arfa said.

That is the Mac only screen capture. It is not part of AS and won't work on windows. Prnt scrn works on windows. Paste into a paint application.
