Text in animation?

Post by JeffZHigs »

So I'm making this animation and theres this one scene that I wanted to have a computer to have text type. Is that possible? Can you have text in AnimeStudio? and if that could be possible is it possible to have it come up 1 letter at a time? how could you do that on anime studio?
I'm a rookie animator, and am trying to get it right, slowly but surely

The easiest way would be to create the whole text as an image, then put a vector layer on top of it with rectangles the same colour as the text background, then animate this to reveal one letter at a time.

Can you have text in AnimeStudio
Sure - it is a menu item: Draw > Insert text [ctrl+T]

I just recently did some tests on text - exporting to SWF and found that halving the number of points reduced the file by 3/4.!

It depends on how close the view is to the text. If you are real close, or intent to get close then inserting text (vectors) will avoid pixel stepping or anti-aliasing.

If you are at a distance then an image would be much better.
I would use mask(s) rather than individual rectangles.
Here is a rough example - with smooth interpolation - stepped would be best. You could have it letter at a time or, as here, relatively random. The closer you are to the text the more careful you need to control the reveal.

hope this helps
