mirror tool?

Post by dueyftw »

A mirror tool would be nice. I don’t know if this could be done by a script. Maybe two? One for horizontal and one for vertical. I have a work around, but it's a pain.

Depends on what, and how, you need to mirror. Do you need to just copy and flip, or do you need animate mirrored sides? Fazek's magnet tool has several mirroring options for moving points around.

Or are you looking for something that would automate the whole copy, flip, align, and weld process?

A tool that would mimic as I draw or add points. Kind of like a 3d tool, so it would give me the whole as I work.

It should be possible to make a new tool to do that. The only problems I see are 1) in will take a while if I write it (not too high on my priorities) and 2) the easiest way to do it would be to mirror around the origin of the layer.

It may be possible to have a custom mirror axis (like Fazek's).

Overall it should be a fairly straight forward tool to write. For each point added, it would add an extra point with the negative value for one of the axes, depending on which way is being mirrored.

Well, an add point tool should be straight forward, I'm not as sure about a freehand tool. This is probably one of those things I'll wait to see if MC adds himself. If it's not in the next version, I'll be more interested in working on it.
