I was trying to do Frame by Frame animation in Flash wid pen tablet, the drawing result was very satisfying however the animation was limited and time consuming so i exported all parts as AI in Anime Studio did a little vector point clean up the and the result :
Anime Studio Rendered Image
Flash rendered Image
If only AS had better drawing control over Edges and joint that would make it even better than Flash drawing and less time consuming for FBF, apparently Flash offers best vector drawing tool compare to any other animation software ( IMHO )...
I had a free trial of flash for a while and in that time I learned that there are several things in both that work the same but are much easier to do in Flash.
well if u ask me then i'd say 'there are several things in both that work the same but are much easier to do in Anime Studio(esp. rigging instead of cutout)' I'm using Flash 8.
I'd be interested to see a very specific example of where you are having trouble in AS controlling edges and joints. You know, a specific shape or something. I have no problems at all producing any shape and line qualities I want in AS.
If your example of the problem warrants a brief AS drawing tutorial on some techniques for using the tools, I'd be willing to make one. I just need to find out where people have the most trouble with them. Like I said, I have no trouble, so it's hard for me to imagine the specific issues.
p.s. I see no reason the AS art couldn't look just like the Flash art.
Once again, I assume the major problem here is trying to shortcut it with AI import. In that Flash render, it is obvious where each stroke starts and ends. The problem is when this is converted to AS curves you also lose that information. Thus the often repeated adage that it is better to create the art in AS from the beginning.
I don't quite see the trouble. You used the curvature tool to correct what bits the freehand tool didn't do as you wanted. Is that the major complaint? I mostly use the add point tool to do my drawing (as I believe most of the AS drawing tool fans, including Sang, do).
The freehand tool does have some limitations. If you want it to match your drawn curves, you need to reduce the angle/pixel tolerance. That does create too many points to manage animating though. You could follow that up by using the point reduction script, but it'd be easier and faster to adjust the curves manually as you did.
I'd still think this is better and faster than cleaning up an AI import.
